Mute and unmute the device

meenakshi negi Newbie

Hi,

I am using Plantronics Rest SDK in a sample application.I got stuck in a problem.

I want to mute and unmute the plantronics device through user interface.

Is it possible to mute and unmute device using Device services(by attaching a session)? As far, I did not get any REST call for the same purpose.

I am able to perform mute , unmute operation by using Session Manager Services(by registering plugin). But the problem is that Session services and plugin services are not working simutaneously. Is it the desired behaviour or something went wrong with simulator.

Query: How can I get running both the services simultaneouly so that I can send commands and listen notifications from device?

Am I missing out something?

Your quick response is highly appreciated.

Thanks!!

    Hi,

Would you be able to provide some additional details concerning what you're wanting to do exactly? If you could provide a snippet of the code where you're trying to mute the device it would help me be able to better answer your question as well

The REST service is a plugin that runs on Spokes and provides an interface for REST calls to be made to localhost. You still need to 'register' with the session manager but you shouldn't have to mess around with any plugin configuration or anything of that sort.

If you're simply wanting to mute the physical headset device you could try check out section 5.1.3.1.11 - "Control the Audio State" in the SDK Reference Documentation which details setting the audio state to MonoOff to 'mute' the device.

      Hi Brandon,

Thanks for your quick response. As you had mentioned "Control the Audio State" I had hit the same rest call via session to mute the device. When I see the output in Device emulator it changes RADIO state on Device state panel of emulator. While using rest call for mute through plugin change MUTE state of emulator.Does both refer to the same thing in actual device.

Could you possibly give a bit more detail on what you're wanting to do? I'm wondering what isn't (or is) happening when you say that "session services and plugin services are not working simultaneously". Are there features failing to do anything when you try to use the two together?

Also, when you mention "plugin services" are you referring to a DLL, written in C#, put into the Spokes folder which requires PURE.xml to be edited to be loaded? Or are you referring to the JavaScript object in Spokes.js called Plugin?

The latter is the session manager in the JavaScript API.

          Hi Brandson,

I am writing my code in actionscript and just hitting the REST service urls.As I am referring word 'plugin' it just means a plugin registered through REST service .Session services is referring to the session attached to device through a rest service call. All the conversation above is in context of REST services only.

            Hi,

I got the solution to my problem.Actually everything is working fine with actul device. The issues are only with emulator. All rest services are able to run simultaneously. No barrier whether you are using device services or Session manager services.

            Thanks for your responses.
